Purification Lodge

  • The Vali Soul Sanctuary 6717 Valmont Road Boulder, CO, 80301 United States (map)

For centuries, there have existed steam baths or what we know to be called “sweat lodges”. The origins of a steam hut go back to our ancient ancestors. Using heat to release toxins is actually tens of thousands of years old, dating back to the Neolithic Age when nomadic tribes would find relief from the bitter cold by soaking in the various natural hot springs they stumbled upon around the world. It is a fundamental right for ALL to be welcomed back into the womb mother to pray. The Great Mystery along with Spirit helpers, who are a manifestation of the ONE CREATOR, await our heartfelt cries through songs and prayers.

We know that Temazcales existed in the Americas for at least 700 years before the arrival of Spaniards in 1519. Temazcal originates from the word temāzcalli, which means “house of heat” in Nahuatl. In Ireland sweat houses were constructed of stone and clay, "Tigh 'n Alluis" meaning houses of sweat. Turkish baths, called hammams, were likely derived in part from Roman and Byzantine baths.  Early historical accounts  place the Russian banya, or bathhouse, in a central societal role by the 900s. Jimjilbangs, or bathhouses are a family affair in South Korea, with everyone from children to the elderly joining in. “Sauna” is a Finnish word, meaning a hot steam bath -- the steam for which is created by pouring water over heated stones, a traditional Finnish sauna dating back to at least the 12th Century. The list goes on………

This is an opportunity for you to connect with the elements, Spirits, all of Creation. We call this a purification lodge. A ceremony in it’s own right, it is believed to be the first performed many times before other rituals. So come, let’s pray! All are welcome.
