🌙 Maga Rising: Make Goddess Alive 🌙

🌙 Maga Rising: Make Goddess Alive 🌙

As I approach my 52nd birthday, with my son having just graduated high school and my daughter thriving on her own, I find myself at a profound crossroads. After 23 years of mothering, I am stepping into a new chapter — that sacred space between Mother and Crone, often referred to as the Maga stage. Friends reminded me that I’m not quite a Crone yet, and I am grateful — this in-between time is rich with freedom, creativity, intuition, and sovereignty.

I’ve given my all as a wife and mother, tending a household filled with love, laughter, tears, and sometimes chaos. I’ve raised my children to the best of my ability, honoring their individuality while navigating my own growth. And now, I am ready to reclaim space for me, even as I continue to adore and support them. My daughter wisely reminds me, “Mom, you will never stop being a mom,” and she’s right — I wouldn’t want to completely vanish from mothering. Yet, I need a pause, a chance to explore my own sovereignty.

What is the Maga Stage?

The Maga phase is a modern addition to the archetypal framework of Maiden, Mother, Crone, reflecting the reality that modern women live longer and experience a distinct period of life after childrearing but before old age. The Maga is often described as the feminine form of the Magus — a magician, a wise woman, an enchantress. It is a stage marked by:

  • Autumnal energy — a time to harvest the fruits of the Maiden and Mother stages, reflecting on lessons learned and rewards earned.

  • Menopause and beyond — often beginning around 45–55 years of age, a time when physical, emotional, and spiritual shifts naturally occur.

  • Shifting focus — turning energy inward, toward self-discovery, creativity, and cultivating the power that has been quietly growing through the years.

  • Wisdom and intuition — drawing on life experience to guide decisions, inspire others, and manifest new visions.

  • Contribution and influence — sharing knowledge, insight, and presence with the community, mentoring younger women, and modeling sovereignty.

The Maga stage is about making goddess alive, living fully in your body and spirit, and stepping into a kind of magic that arises naturally when a woman knows herself and her worth.

The Magic of Being Maga

The word Maga has roots in the Latin Magus, meaning magician or wise one. The feminine Maga is a sorceress, an enchantress, a woman in touch with the rhythms of life and her own creative power. Being a Maga is about practicing your own magic — not controlling others, but mastering your own energy, your intentions, and your creativity.

Historically, women in this stage were revered as keepers of knowledge and ritual, guiding communities through transitions, harvests, and spiritual ceremonies. They were advisors, storytellers, and leaders — deeply connected to the cycles of nature, to intuition, and to the mysteries of life. The Maga stage calls us to tap into that ancestral wisdom, to honor ourselves as vessels of creativity and insight, and to allow our magic to flow through our words, actions, and presence.

My Journey Into Maga

Entering this stage feels both exciting and vulnerable. After decades of mothering and tending a household in Crestone, Colorado, I am beginning to sense the freedom to focus on my own spiritual and creative growth. I am ready to explore, to experiment, to trust in what the Divine has in store for me.

I am stepping into my Maga power with faith, curiosity, and a little fear, surrendering to the next chapter. My children remain my teachers: my son challenges me, inspires me, and continues to shape my understanding of patience and love; my daughter reminds me of the joy and resilience of youth. This phase is not about abandoning family, but about reclaiming self while honoring the roles that have defined me.

The Irony of “MAGA”

I can’t help but smile at the irony of the acronym “MAGA” today — widely recognized as a political slogan, “Make America Great Again.” In my understanding, Maga means something radically different: Make Goddess Alive. It’s a call to honor women’s wisdom, sovereignty, and creative power — the very qualities often ignored or undervalued by contemporary culture.

Reclaiming this term is an act of magic, a rebellion, and a celebration. The Maga stage is a time to rise unapologetically, to embody freedom, insight, and the joy of living in alignment with one’s soul, rather than cultural expectations.

How to Embrace Your Maga Stage

  • Honor your experiences: Celebrate what you’ve learned from your Maiden and Mother phases.

  • Trust your intuition: Listen to your inner voice — it’s sharper and wiser than ever.

  • Reclaim your time and energy: Prioritize activities and relationships that nourish you.

  • Explore creativity: Try new art, music, writing, or spiritual practices that awaken joy.

  • Celebrate your body: Embrace changes with respect and curiosity rather than resistance.

  • Step into visibility: Let your wisdom and presence shine in ways that inspire others.

  • Practice magic daily: Rituals, meditation, and intentional acts become powerful tools for transformation.

  • Connect with community: Seek out like-minded women who honor sovereignty and growth.

  • Laugh and play: The Maga stage isn’t all serious work — joy is sacred too.

  • Share your gifts: Teach, mentor, or guide others using the wisdom accumulated over the years.

Looking Forward

As I step into my Maga stage, I am embracing a life that is wild, creative, and full of magic. This is a phase for boldness, for freedom, and for unapologetically claiming who we are. I am ready to explore, to grow, and to contribute to the world from this new place of power.

The Maga stage is not the end; it is a time of transformation, play, and sovereign presence. It is a reminder that we are capable of magic, wisdom, and joy in every moment — especially now, as we move between the seasons of life.
