Crestone Gnomes were inspired by the trickster underground Little People Nation. Each ornament comes with its own gift bag and a description. A treasure for that special someone! For thousands of years in the San Luis Valley it was believed that little gnome like beings would guard the springs, streams, and waters. In the Lakota pantheon their race is considered one of the 16 Gods and Goddesses called Wakankin. In the Creation Story their lives began long before human beings. They are said to live within the earth where they control the stars. They regulate shooting stars which are meteorites reaching the earth every day. Wiwila Oyate, Spring People may be beneficial but also potentially harmful. It is wise to put out offerings such as water, sugar cubes, or other sweets. Be careful for they may trick you into learning a lesson!
